Three hurt
after vessel caught fire off Bedok Jetty
SCDF was alerted to a vessel fire about a kilometer off
Bedok Jetty about 3.20pm.
SCDF dispatched a Rapid Response Fire Vessel (RFV) and two Marine
Firefighting Vessels (MFV).
The fire was confined to the vessel's engine room and extinguished
prior to SCDF arrival.
Upon arrival, SCDF marine firefighters boarded the vessel and
facilitated casualty evacuation. Three casualties were ferried to
Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal via a Police Coast Guard vessel.
At the ferry terminal, crew from a fire engine and three ambulances
received the casualties. They were conscious, with burn injuries
and conveyed to Changi General Hospital.
SCDF is investigating the cause of the fire.
