SCDF
investigating cause of car catching fire on SLE
SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is
investigating the cause of a car catching fire on the Seletar
Expressway (SLE) on Saturday (Dec 10).
A video from a Channel NewsAsia viewer showed flames and black
smoke billowing from the car, which was in the right-most lane of
the expressway near the Lentor exit in the direction of Woodlands.
It appeared to have caused a traffic jam in the two adjacent
lanes.
The SCDF said it received an alert for assistance along the SLE
before the Lentor exit at about 12.50pm. It dispatched two fire
engines, a fire bike and one ambulance.
The fire was extinguished by SCDF using a compressed air foam
jet.
Two men in their early 20s were conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat
Hospital, and both are in stable condition, SCDF added.
