9 sent to
hospital after early-morning fire at Hillview Green
SINGAPORE: There was a fire that broke out on the seventh floor
at Hillview Green condominium on Saturday morning (Apr 30),
resulting in nine people sent to hospital for burns and smoke
inhalation.
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force, it was alerted to
the fire around 5.35am at 69 Hume Avenue and it despatched two fire
engines, a Red Rhino, two support vehicles and five ambulances.
Fire involved the contents of the living room, and they rescued
seven occupants from their bedrooms, it added.
Three occupants had made their way out of the unit before SCDF
arrived, and nine were sent to hospital. An elderly man and woman
were sent to Singapore General Hospital for burn injuries.
Another three adults and two children were sent to National
University Hospital for smoke inhalation while two other adults
were sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital for the same reason. One
occupant refused to be sent to hospital, SCDF added.
The cause of the fire is being investigated, it added.
