Fire breaks
out at Veerasamy Road HDB flat
SINGAPORE: About 40 people were evacuated after fire broke out
at Blk 633 Veerasamy Road on Wednesday afternoon (Feb 10), said the
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
SCDF was alerted to the incident at about 4pm and dispatched a
fire engine, two Red Rhinos, two fire bikes, two support vehicles
and an ambulance.
Its officers had to force their way into the ninth floor unit.
The blaze was extinguished within 10 minutes with a water jet and
no one was injured, SCDF said.
Those evacuated included residents living above and below the
unit. The commotion attracted a crowd of hundreds near the block
and Upper Weld Road was temporarily closed, Channel NewsAsia
understands.
The cause of fire is still under investigation.
