Fire breaks
out at Tampines St 43, no injuries reported
SINGAPORE: A fire broke out at Block 438 Tampines St 43 on
Sunday night (Jan 10). No injuries were reported, according to the
Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
SCDF said they despatched two fire engines, a Red Rhino, as well
as a support vehicle upon being alerted to the incident at
9.57pm.
A Channel NewsAsia reporter at the scene said the fire occurred
in a flat on the second level of the block. At about 10.20pm, there
were about 10 firemen at the scene. They told residents on the
second and fourth levels of Block 438 to evacuate.
The fire involved a curtain and a sofa in the unit, according to
SCDF. It was contained within minutes. SCDF said it was put out
using a fire extinguisher.
Residents began returning to their flats at about
10.30pm.
A smell of burnt rubber lingered in the area, even after the
fire had been extinguished.
