Fire breaks
out at basement of Jem shopping mall, no injuries
reported
SINGAPORE: Fire broke out at the basement of Jurong East
shopping mall JEM on Saturday evening (Jan 9), said the Singapore
Civil Defence Force (SCDF). There were no injuries reported, it
added.
According to SCDF, two fire engines, two red Rhinos, an
ambulance and seven supporting equipment were dispatched to the
shopping mall. It added that the incident was reported at about
8pm.
SCDF said the blaze had involved contents of a storeroom on
basement three. Five staff working at the mall had also
self-evacuated.
The fire was extinguished with a water jet and the cause of fire
is still under investigation, SCDF added.
This is the latest in a string of incidents at the mall. In
April last year, a fire broke out near the H&M boutique.
