Chua takes command of 4th SCDF Division
SINGAPORE: Lieutenant-Colonel Michael Chua has officially
assumed duty as Commander 4th Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF)
Division on Monday (Jan 4), SCDF said in a news release on
Tuesday.
In a symbolic Change of Command Parade held at the 4th SCDF
Division HQ on Monday, the previous Commander of the 4th SCDF
Division Colonel Ling Young Ern handed over the command mace to LTC
Chua. The parade, where LTC Chua also took the Oath of Command, was
witnessed by about 250 SCDF officers, Home Team Officers,
grassroots and community leaders, NS commanders and Civil Defence
Auxiliary Unit (CDAU) members, SCDF said.
LTC Chua has held various key staff and operational appointments
in SCDF and the Ministry of Home Affairs since 2002, said SCDF.
Prior to his current appointment, he served as an Assistant
Director in SCDF’s Hazardous Materials Department and as the Deputy
Commander of 4th SCDF Division. LTC Chua was also awarded
sponsorship for a full-time Masters in Fire Investigation at the
University of Central Lancashire in 2012.
COL Ling, who has been Commander 4th SCDF Division since June
2013, has moved on to a new role as Director Operations Department.
