crane at Woodlands catches fire after 'strong
lightning'
SINGAPORE: A construction crane caught fire at Woodlands
Industrial Park on Thursday (Dec 24), "after strong lightning",
said a viewer.
Twitter user 'fitra' posted a video of the burning crane at
12.08pm.
"Multiple brave SCDF men climbed up the crane to extinguish (the
fire)", fitra said. The viewer also told Channel NewsAsia that it
was raining at the time of the fire, which he said was put out by
12.38pm.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to
the incident at 208 Woodlands Industrial Park E9 at 11.59am. It
dispatched a fire engine, a Red Rhino, and a support vehicle to the
scene.
SCDF added that upon arrival, it extinguished the fire using a
fire extinguisher
The crane cabin was empty, and no injuries have been reported,
according to SCDF. The Singapore Police Force and SCDF both said
that they are investigating the incident.
