Around 5:30pm today, SCDF responded to a rescue incident at a
construction site along Woodlands Dr 73 involving a man who was
feeling unwell on top of a 16 storey-high tower crane.
Upon SCDF arrival, the man was found to be neither trapped nor
injured, but was too weak to descend from the operator cabin on his
own. Officers from the SCDF elite Disaster Assistance and Rescue
Team (DART) accessed the man by climbing the tower ladder and
secured him with safety lines and a harness before lowering him to
safety in a basket stretcher.
The rescue operation, lasting 90 minutes, was conducted
cautiously as it was drizzling and nightfall was approaching.
SCDF paramedics immediately rendered medical assistance on site
and the man was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in a conscious
condition.
