SINGAPORE: A waste collector miraculously escaped serious injury
after falling into a rubbish collection area piled with refuse
several stories high.
The man, in his mid—40’s, was emptying rubbish at the Tuas South
Incineration Plant when he fell 15 metres into the collection point
on Thursday.
Fortunately, his fall was cushioned by the rubbish pile.
A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) ambulance arrived just
before 4pm and its crew had to be lowered into the area using the
incinerator’s auxiliary hoist.
The man was conscious when rescued. He was sent to the National
University Hospital where he was treated for a fractured left leg.
