Ambulances are pivotal when it comes to saving lives, but this does
not mean they do not get into accidents themselves.
Eric, 27, a customer service officer, was startled by a thunderous
bang this morning (10 June) at 5.30am at junction of Bedok
Reservoir Road and Tampines Avenue 1.
A hatchback had crashed into an ambulance that was on its way to
Changi Hospital.
The car was turning, while the ambulance was going straight.
Both vehicles were not aware of each other and collided.
The impact of the crash was so large that the ambulance was pushed
onto the middle kerb, while the hatchbacks bonnet was severely
damaged.
Eric said he saw that the airbag on the drivers seat in the car
had been activated and the driver was stuck in his seat.
Luckily there was no casualty in the ambulance at the time of the
accident, just a few other ambulance personnel, who were
unharmed.
According to the police, both drivers sustained minor
injuries.
Police told STOMP on Monday that the driver of the car has been
arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The alpha involved in the accident is QX109T, Alpha 231.
