retrenchment benefits

Am seeking some advice from the folks here with regards to this issue my family is facing...my dad's company is being sold off to another company, since this company will effectively cease to exist after end of Feb, will he be entitled to retrenchment benefits? He's been with the company 20 years already. Also, how much retrenchment benefits should he ask for?
