Stop and see if you can actually feel how cold
it is. The next time you are cold, actually pause and try
to feel how cold it really is. You might find it isn't quite as bad
as you were thinking. If you are shivering, stop for a moment.
Getting used to cold temperatures is partly a mind thing.

Try to ignore the cold and tell yourself it
doesn't have to affect you to much. If your hands are cold
and you don't have anything to warm them just let them be cold for
a change. Think about that the main thing is the most important
parts of the body (on the inside, where the organs are) are warm
and your skin will survive a little cold for a while.
Train yourself to get used to the
cold. Apart from changing the way you react (in your mind)
to being cold, get your body used to it by training. If there is
snow around, hold it in your hand for a while or pop out of the
house for a few seconds and walk around barefoot. Go into cold
water more often and more quickly again and again. Try having cold
or cool showers (they are better for your skin than really hot ones
anyway) or shower your legs with cold water.
Actually GET OUT in the cold. Whether
its having a snowball fight with your kids or walking around
downtown, this will help you get used to this.
Try to learn to ski or snowboard.
Doing this will not only help you learn a new skill, but it will
also help you get used to the cold.
