We cant beat foreigners in term of salary package.

They can work 12 hours+ with low salary.

Their survival is fantastic.

Low salary is high to them.

Cos in China they can times 5.
$800 times 5 = RMB4,000.
$1200 times 5 = RMB6,000

My dad was replaced by a uni grad with much lower pay expectations. It's nothing personal, just business. The company had every right to cut their costs. It's a fact of globalization these days. Only PAP rice bowls are guaranteed. Private sector, unless you are people like richard branson or tony fernandez, one better be prepared for life in the 40s and 50s. It can just turn its back on you in the blink of an eye.

Cost is the main issue to the organisation.

Bottom line = black.

And the rest, organisation no interested.

Organisation can employ locals, but cost will be increased and pushes down the profit.

That is their solid secret weapons.

Save and save, change to rmb, their family becomes rich.

Govt should act in, regulate, but they dun.

actually you don't need a degree to be a restaurant manager..

but with a degree in f & b, what other jobs can you apply for?

mine is a degree in business management, not degree in f&b.

a friend of mine graduated from SIM for 2 years already. Went for a few interviews, only RWS offered him a job. Even then, the pay was $2500. Quite lousy for an engineering asst who has experience.

If can get a $2.5k job is consider very lucky.

Good thing is the employers never pick a foreigners that can work only for $1.5k per month.

They cannot offend the investors for they will ship and leave spore, more jobless.

I always tell my colleagues and friends that we have jobs, we are very fortunate. Work hard for your salary, work hard to prove to your employer that we locals are far far better than foreigners.

Let employers see and feel it for themselves that locals are still the best compare to hiring the foreigners.

I was in the brink of depression (as i couldnt find a job for months and seen my bank account funds dwindle till the last few dollars), until this job offer came in.

In confusion stage I say.

Dun accept job offer, go for failed interviews for a few more months?
Thats why. Haix. Dilemma I say.

That is the only way to show our employer what we are here for right?

Other than that, what can local do? Complain complain and complain also no use if employer prefer foreigners.

Just work first and be on lookout for better offers if any.

If unemployed for too long, morale will drop.

You never know what sort of chances or connections you might bump into while working on the new job.

Agreed.

Grab a job first.

Then slowly find a good one.

Job in hand is better than shake leg at home.

Good Luck buddy.

Singaporeans don't give a flying fuck to PAP, that is the truth. No amount of PAP propaganda, brainwashing on this earth can alter this fact:
