I alway try to apply for job in garment sector or GLC but alway unsuccessful .. 1st is becos I dun have a good qualification .. but I am defintlely as capable and diligent in my work...2nd i just do not have a right connection or know the right people to get the job I want, so i lose out all the time ,, recently i apply for a job .. and came to know the job went to a FT , a PR , feel really sad that a true blue singaporean like me who has served 2.5 years of NS, burned many weekend, sweat in brunei jungle to defend the country and done 13 cycle of ICT and contribute 20 years of income tax .. is not favor over a PR who came to SG probably recentlyto enjoy the security and prosperity I have contributed in a little way .. just hope in future employer from garment sector can give priority to pple who has contributed to the country not someone who has better qualification from other country

These are my take on GLC.....

Since you've already done 13th yrs cycle that means you are beyond 40 yrs of age....too old to induct so they won't call you up.

If you wrote in and not accepted than you should not waste further energy to apply....

At some point in your past your PSLE education was not as good as it expected to be....that of course has nothing to reflect your abilities to perform in your profession.

GLCs usually headed by scholars...scholars mean what?Good paper qualifications...so when they look for people...they only know how to look at the paper lor...but then again...if U can try to show them what U mean by "capable and diligent"...U might have a chance...saying U are "capable and diligent" doesnt count hor...U need to show it...

btw what was the job U applied for and your paper qualification exactly?And what is the relationship between ur current job and the one U are applying?I take it as U are not an O-level admin clerk and applying for a finance director post...

you need to have the relevent certificate for the job title in question.

if you just doing sales in garments most may just need o levels, some reputated companies you deal with reputated customers maybe they want a diploma or degree in bsuiiness or something like that. GLC a=many tupes, raning from admin works, HR blah blah to technical and engineering so the specturm very borad. do you have the relevent certification for the post you applied?

Ns has nothin gto do with getting employed in my opinion.

I am a junior manager and have graduated from poly and obtained a part time degree, position I amvying was a managerial one, having been in private sector I know my work load is easily twice that of my peers in public sector , the main reason of wanting to join is to have better work life balance . Most of the time , those with impressive track record and qualification not necessary are good worker and may not contribute much to their organisation if you guys have work long enough will agree with me.

After my NS i have applied to local U but was rejected , arent u flabbergasted to see so many so called PRC scholar getting free lodging , education and given allowance monthly to study in local u , when they graduated and logged enough experience, they will just move on to other countries , do they contribute to Sg ? I have many PRC colleague who have gotten PR or citizen but told me that Sg is just a stepping stone , they will move to other country and back to PRC eventually

We all hear you. Do not Feed yourself the notion that you are not good enough or not capable of performing better than those new PR in GLC or any ministry.

Basically, all it says that you have succeeded on your own accord and not thru the system. I am very sure that you are as qualify as any other folks that sit in there who follow instructions unable to voice and overtime they don't voice up they loose it.

the system here "kills" the male gender to uphold feministic policies .....
