I am an engineer. Over the past year, I have been squeezed out of my job by cheaper Chinese, Malaysian and Indian engineers.

To them, $2000 is much when they remit back home.

To me, I can’t even afford a HDB, as frugal as I try to be, because the foreigners keeps driving home prices up on a daily basis.

To add insult to injury, more of the foreign graduates replacing me had their university fees paid by our very own Ministry of Education. These graduates were not only given free college education, they were even given a month allowance of few hundred dollars each. While I had to work part time to support my education in NUS, and I still remain in debt to my student loan. (BITTER LAUGH!!!!).

I spent 2.5 years of my precious youth serving the SAF, during which I lost my first girlfriend during training. These foreigners were given PRs and citizenship in less than 2.5 years and they don’t even need to serve.

If war breaks out, I have to protect 1/3 of the population fuilled with these people?? (Assuming they dun run away at the 1st sign of trouble??!!) SAF even sent me a letter threatening to fine me for going overseas without telling them…to attend a funeral of my uncle…(BITTER LAUGH!!!!).

Hey, here’s an idea, why don’t I migrate to another country before migrating back. That will save me more time!

I am working in odds jobs now 7 days a week. I am now almost 30 already. Inflation exceed my savings rate, and I find a home, marriage, kids and happy future beyond me. A simple illness or a year of unemployment could wipe me out. Yet the government is wondering why there are less marriages and births….(BITTER LAUGH!!!!)

I bear no love to my country now. My country does not need to be attacked, it has already be invaded and taken over.

I dun think we should blame the goverment at all just becoz foreigners are willing to accept lower salaries....this is occuring in the whole world......not like singapore is the only country doing that....one thing i notice about hiring singaporeans is that they tend to whine a lot, expect the job to be relax while commanding high salary...

That's why in my company i would very much prefer hiring foreigners whenever it allows.....especially my previous experience of hiring singaporeans has not been that great.....and one should not blame boss for wanting a bigger cut of the profit either....simply put it....if u have what it takes...no one is stopping u from setting up ur company....u can always walk out of ur work place and start a bizness of ur own....anyway most likely some ppl will get offended reading this post.....

In Australia, they needed foreigner to fill in jobs which the local avoid, not becos the paid is too pathetic. Do u know plumber can earn few K a month? Even what previous post mention abt EU is low skill job rather than executive job. How can u claim its not government problem?

Why singapore govt will want to mass import PRCs into singapore

1. Cheap labour , bring down cost of labour to attract more investment from foreigners

2. To further increase the chinese population and dilute the the races , chinese in sg birthrate is only 1.2 compared to another race which is 3+ ( u know who) , they are very worried about this increasing trend

3. If the PRCs chose to settle down here and become citizen , they will continue to vote for PAP in election as PAP are pro-foreigners

4. If the PRCs choose settle down here and continue to be PR , after working till 50 and beyond and F.O from our country , Singapore stand to reap the work they have contributed and the government don't have to take care of them when they are old

5. If they didn become PR or citizen at all , they are still contributing and helped to keep the cost of wage down ( those prc beer girl , road cleaners , construction worker etc )

6. When singapore population increase to say 6mil through mass migration, they earn more through tax and additional income ( electricity bills...phone bills...bus etc) as compared to when singapore native population is only 3mil

As you can see , it's a win-win-win-win-win situation for singapore govt as a whole , i have a better chance of winnning election , i have a better economy report card , i can earn more $$$
never forget the PAPs are a bunch of selfish people who only think of making more and more money , who cares about YOUR feeling? , how much per kg is your feeling worth compared to $$$$ and benefit i stand to reap if i mass import robots from PRC.

Bosses pressured pregnant employee to resign

Bosses told her to take a break - which she did not need

When customer service officer Joanne Ho, 33, discovered she was pregnant shortly after joining a well-known tourism-services firm last year, she told her bosses right away.

'I saw no reason to hide the news. I had a new job that I liked and was doing well,' she said, declining to reveal her salary.

But four months into her job, she was not confirmed.

When she asked about it, her bosses suggested she take a break - which she did not need.

But they persisted, putting pressure on her to resign, she said.

'I told them I would not resign because I had done my job well, but they could fire me if they were insistent.'

Her bosses took their time giving her a letter of termination, saying it could affect her career.

When she called the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to check if she could complain, she was told that a termination letter was necessary.

After hounding the company for nearly a month after leaving work, the letter finally arrived, barely a day before the deadline to complain to MOM expired.

Pregnant women who feel they have been unfairly dismissed should file their complaints with the ministry within one month of their notification of dismissal for the ministry to take up their case.

During investigations by MOM, the company said that Ms Ho was not good at her job and did not improve despite being told verbally that her probation was being extended.

They repeated that when contacted by The Sunday Times.

But MOM found that the company failed to substantiate its claim that Ms Ho's performance was unsatisfactory and ordered it to pay her four months' salary as compensation.

The case dragged for nearly a year, partly because the company postponed appointments.

Now the mother of a one-year-old son, she insisted that there were no performance issues whatsoever.

She had e-mail from former clients praising her work, which she submitted to MOM.

She added that her immediate supervisor was also happy with her work.

'What I faced was bullying and sheer injustice,' said the housewife, who hopes to re-enter the workforce next year.

'And I fought not because I could get some money, but because I had done nothing wrong.'
