Teens, are u ready for R(A) movie?

DeadPoet SG

As teenagers, do u think it is necessary for the government to limit the age to 21 to watch R(A) movie?

If no, at what age do u think it is okay to watch R(A) movie? 16? 18?

boariggy SG

18
But i think there'll by some outcry by conservative nuts if they removed R21. Rolling Eyes

bismarck SG

i feel this age limit is an excuse. most teens are already exposed to porn thru the net. furthermore it’s free…btw quite an number of them are already sex and getting pregnant so well before they even reach 16

ditzy SG

18 is fine lah. RA ain’t always about sex, sex, sex. It can mean excessive strong language, explicit adult themes and graphic violence. WIth the amount of information presented well before any movie, viewers can make choices at their own discretion. After all, you’ve been warned.

wuming78 SG

yes in a way its true. but they cant realli control the internet while they can control the media. so o cos they will control wat they can.

FireIce SG

18 shd be fair enuf......
there are different grades of R(A)......but we jus lump them together.......so there isn't relli any "proper" classification to start with......set as 21.....ppl think too high.......16 still not tt matured leh.....so 18 lah......

wuming78 SG

i think if u ask them for their personal views (without taking into account of society and such) they r most likely going to say no.

DeadPoet SG

Another thing I dont get it is why neighbourhood cinemas cannot screen R(A) shows. Most ppl watching R(A) movie in town are from neighbourhood HDBs, so what is the logic?

Protect us from sex, violence, etc? Give me a break. Rolling Eyes

ditzy SG

RA films mostly niche market mah.

wuming78 SG

one of the thing abt giving classification is so tt more ppl can watch. but one of the conditions is they wont be shown in the neighbourhoods, cos 1. publicity material such as posters may be objectionable 2. less accessible to those who these shows r not meant for.

bismarck SG

violence ?
give me a break too.

i have seen sec1.2 kids threatening sec3,4 students(me).

boariggy SG

they say with these classifications , we get more fucking variety ! but we still have censorship , all they’ve done is let you out of a jailcell but left you stranded on a desert island.

Dj_Shadow SG

18... Fair and square for everyone... Mr. Green

`wAwA` SG

i rem reading the news abt some sec sch students talkin with wad minister of parliament regarding such issues.

Why a 16 yr old girl can have sex legally

and not watch RA shows instead..

i personally feel that 18 is the right age.

Well 18, u can drink, smoke, take car license..

These are violent stuff (if u ppl think it negatively)

So wats the prob in not implementing a 18 age cut?

Hocklez SG

hmm 16 since people they can have sexual intercourse at 16 already.

bismarck SG

which hole have u been hiding..just kidding..i mean there are ppl having sex at 13,14...

Hocklez SG

hmm truth. but they are still they type of innocent lots who don really understand the meaning and relation of true love and sexual intercourse. Some are even tricked into it as it can be seen from the daily newspaper... Cool

It is really kinda a weird case whereby gals legal gal for sexual intercourse is at 16, but then the watchin of R(A) movies is at 21. 5 long yrs between. Cool

st3phanIe SG

lolx.. nt much use oso de lo.. teens r oredi exposed to it thru internet etc.. n sum e more e restrict e more dey curious lo... but den mayb czuz e society lo.. so mayb 18 is ok la

Like it was said....R(A) does not mean sexually explicit material it can also infer extreme violence, strong language and even extreme thinking. The rating is simply to shield mainstream viewers from them. For me? i think it should be...21 or after you have started NS or military service, police or civil defence. In the meantime i forsee alot more shows getting the M18 rating while R(A) will be reserved for extreme case.Maybe even show that were previously banned. The government has already bent to pressure and made an M18 so let's take advantage of that Mr. Green
