He was on his phone,
and she was on hers;
when they both sat
down at the table,
she shut hers off
while he talked on;
when the food came
she thanked the waiter
and he ended the call;
then they proceeded
to dine in silence.

Actually I get similiar feeling when I'm with a friend who is on her phone all the time. A person having a conversation on the phone is not with you at all. You are outside of it.

Same thing if you are in the company of people talking among themselves about stuff that you are not a part of. It's far lonelier than being alone in these cases, when you are being completely excluded even though you are with someone.

Actually if it is only for a while I don't mind. But not like on the phone throughout dinner lah. Then next time I will bring a poetry book to read. Laughing
