Clad in a trenchcoat, he stared a the newspaper clippings that plastered the wall."somethings not right." he thought to himself.

He tried finding the answer from the newspaper, but it told him the very story that he already knew: a girl was killed in the casino. The police could not find anything else, except for a 5 of diamond beside her, and a game of unfinished solitare on the table. The newspaper also stated 4 other similar cases that happened that week.

His line of sight shifted from the articles, to the wall clock, and then to his unfinished game of solitare. suddenly, the hand phone on the table rang, at this very momont, a young lad burst into the room.

he raised an eyebrow and told the young lad, "lets go, they will be here anytime." With that, they left the room, ignoring the hand phone. Due to the fact that the phone was in vibration mode, it shifted from its original position, revealing a 6 of diamond card. And on the door was the name "Officer Jane Knightly"-- the detective of that case.

He lay in a field with his eyes to that azure sky, thick undergrowth bordered it's edges, a ridge on the side bordering the road.

It was a place someone had been murdered, many years ago.And now, he has come seeking death- his own.

he lay in the field, watching that impossibly blue sky, on a fair day. What is beyond the Earth,in a sky above concerned not one like him ,to whom into the earth was where he was going. And in that field he lay, only the passage of clouds gave sense of time.

In that field, obscured from worldly matters, one that had seen better days- a school,a camp- but was now nothing,a blank,a field it was called. So did he think of himself and bemoaned the passing of his own days, the ones filled with laughter, when he loved and was loved in a world that followed time faithfully.

Traffic sounded occasionally from the road, a couple of meters just over the ridge. It was no matter, nobody would stop.

To kill one's self required a rational frame of mind, the composure and the will to execute the terrible deed was of paramount importance. He had none of that, he lived wanting to die but was unable to kill himself,so it was hell. But here in this field he lay, not acting was what was required of him.

Thus he waited faithfully.

Clouds amassed stopped moving, time froze in a single frame and it started to drizzle. Was it for her or himself that he cried?

He lay there crying into the rain, something warm blew on his neck, a shaft of pain like light stabbed into his consciousness. and he was up, punching and kicking at that wet shaggy coat of fur, a yelp told him he had made contact and he ran... over the ridge into the path of an incoming car.

No! Lee! Lee! Lee.. she screamed in her mind as Lee slowly sank down into the dark depths

She woke up, startled. Sitting up, she scratched her head. It was her recurring nightmare, one which haunted her ever since her imprisonment.

Get the hell out of my head! she screamed at the mirror, watching her reflection do the same exact thing. She washed herself, and sat on the floor, leaning against the walls. She looked at the cold steel bars. The bars that limited her for nine years and eight months. Looking at the calendar, she realised, with a shock, that it was exactly ten years ago when Lee drowned. Drowned because of her. Ever since then, she was caged. Caged inside her own remorse, agony.

107982, heres your breakfast. came a rough voice. A tray of food appeared in front of her. Thanks, David. she said, with a fade smile. David was the warden of her cell for the past nine years. A kind, but strict man. Yet, he seemed to have a soft spot for her. Maybe it was because he saw her agony. Her sufferings, her misery, her mental jail.

Slowly eating the food, she occasionally stopped to look at the walls and bars which had bounded her for nearly ten years.

Finishing, she put the tray exactly where it was when David left it. Sitting on the grass mat which had been her bed for the past nine years, she glared out of the window. A ray of sunshine shot in. Admiring the skies and the birds, she longed for freedom. Not her physical freedom, but her freedom from her recurring nightmare. She wanted to be free. Free like the birds. Then suddenly, it hitted her. Her only path to freedom

Running up the stairs, she looked back. Four wardens were on her tail, probably more were coming by the minute. Panting, she willed herself to go on. Your only path to freedom! she screamed to herself in her mind. Finally, she saw it. The door. She jumped at it and opened it. Rays of sunshine hit her, blinding her momentarily. Recovering herself, she ran towards the edge.

Freedom at last, Lee. she thought happily as she stepped out. She was on the ground when the wardens finally reached the top.

Introduction

Actually my stories are not very scary but I try not to remember them because they are not what I would call happy memories.

When I was very young, maybe about 6 7 years old I met with a terrible accident. While speeding down slope in my bicycle I collided head-on with a moving bus from the opposite direction. I thought that was it; that was the end of my story. But miraculously I survived with only a few bruises. My bicycle twisted as if it was in pain and the bus suffered a dent at its front. I got a beating from my parents but I knew they were actually very happy that Ive survived, so was that bus driver. (A few years later just before my PSLE exam, I stepped on a toy bus, fell, sat on myself and broken my left leg.)

Well after that accident, I would frequently wake up in the middle of the night unable to move. I was afraid to sleep with the light off. It was also about this time I realized that for no reasons, my back would suddenly feel very cold as if something was attaching itself on me. Although occasionally I still had this feeling but I am so used to it now after all these years that I simply ignore it.

So this is my background, and I will tell some of my encounters as I slowly recall them.

Ghost Story #1

I think most of you here have encountered this phenomenon before i.e. you wake up in the middle of the night and find yourself paralysis. Not only are you unable to move, you are also unable to talk. The strange thing is you know when it is coming; it may makes its presence known with a high pitch sound, or occasionally with some unintelligent noises. Often you fight back by kicking or giving out a yell. Of course this can easily be explained by the condition of sleeping paralysis. I believe this explanation easily accounts for most of my countless encounters. I say most because two such encounters were so bizarre that I find it difficult to explain with sleeping paralysis.

Both encounters took place while I was serving my NS in Camp X. The first story took place during a routine patrol within the camp. Camp X is different from the other camps because it is located within a security area. No lights are allowed after dark. You performed your guard duties in pitch darkness. (Maybe except for the guardhouse and the guards sleeping barrack)

Although it was against the rule but guards on patrol usually try to take a short nap before reporting back to the guardhouse. So there I was with my buddy on our back trying to get some sleep in the middle of a T-junction under the open sky. It was about 3 or 4am in the morning. I can't remember the exact time.

Then it happened. As usual, first came the voices followed by the hapless condition of being immobilize. But I was ready and soon managed to break free from its grips. I quickly sat up, turned to my buddy to make sure he is okay. Then I saw them two black hands holding down my buddys legs above his kneecaps. There was no body, no head or face, just two black hands. I stared at them for quite a while too afraid to move. Then suddenly they disappeared.

Soon my buddy woke up but I was too shocked to tell him about the hands. Besides, I dont think he would believe me. As we were making our way to the guardhouse, he suddenly turned around and told me, You wouldnt believe this but just now I was unable to move. It was as if something was holding me down to the ground. I tried calling you but I was unable to make any sound. Luckily this dreadful feeling went away after a while.

Ghost Story #2

Remember my story regarding the encounter of the black hands at Camp X? Well the second story took place in a deserted island when my unit went there for an exercise. I think most of you have heard about this island before, it is located at SW of Singapore, and it was a penal island remembered for a revolt in 1963 in which the superintendent and others were brutally murdered. I am talking about Palau Senang.

My unit was stationed there for a few days as part of our exercise and I was actually quite excited about it. At the point Ive never heard of Palau Senang or its violent history. Before the exercise, my sergeant merely told us we were going to a deserted island far away from the main island.

To cut the story short, on the very first night when I was asleep after my patrol, the condition known as sleeping paralysis struck again. Just like my previous encounter with the pair of black hands, this time it was also different. Instead of the usual bombardment of unintelligent noises what I heard were people crying Tolong, tolong, screaming, shouting, etc. The language was a mixture of Malay, English and Mandarin. Although it was really chaotic however one message was very clear, whoever they were, they were begging me for food; they were hungry, very hungry.

Back home for some reasons I couldnt get this encounter out of my mind. So I went to the library and did some readings on Palau Senang and when I read about the revolt I was shocked. Maybe what Ive heard on that night were the unrest spirits of the murdered men or maybe some dead fishermen from the distant past. I dont know. What I do know is there is nothing I can do about it and the memory of this encounter will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Ghost Story #3

You will never really know for sure if you are alone in the house or if someone or something is watching you while you are asleep.

A good friend told me this story a few years ago during one of our coffee sessions. For the past few weeks she felt very depressed and suicidal for no reasons. This was very unlikely of her because she is a very outgoing and cheerful person. The scary part was she had this strange feeling that someone or something was watching her in her own house. As days went by, she got more depressed and would break into tears for no reasons.

Eventually she decided to visit a famous monk, whom was highly recommended by her relatives. The monk asked her some questions, sorry I dont have the details, but what the monk told her scared her out of her wit. Apparently my friend attended a BBQ at East Coast Park recently. While she was at the beach, a male spirit became attracted to her and decided to follow her home. I am not surprise because she is quite pretty. It seemed that for the past few weeks he had been trying to influence her into committing suicide so that they could be together.

The monk then accompanied my friend to her house and conducted a ritual straight away. Well believe it or not, it worked and now my friend is back to her old joyful self again. So if you have been feeling depressed for no reasons recently, perhaps some praying might help.

Hello my friends welcome to Sgforums!

To break the ice, first let me introduce myself, I am Dead Poet, your guide in this magical land. I am not really a poet and I am not dead. It is too late to change my nick now but I do love Poetry and wish more people would share my view. So anyone of you here interested in Poetry? If you do please raise your hand. No? Nobody? Not one? Ah you are interested in Poetry? Oh you want to know where is the washroom, I see. (You can pee in your pants and see if I care) The washroom is over there by the lake but please be careful hor, a crocodile was spotted in the lake a few days ago and no I am not referring to the brand of your underwear.

Okay guys you are now in my humble home, i.e. Dead Poet Ave, a little cottage by a lake between a pine tree forest and a lovely garden. There is no much to see here actually but I promise you adventures and exotic places beyond your wildest imaginations as we journey along. So come my friends, it is time to take a stroll through the pine tree forest to our next location

Dear friends we are now at Philosophy Lane. It is actually a beach with the finest sands in Sgforums. It is also a paradise for ice-cream lovers. Why is it called the Philosophy Lane? I am not very sure but maybe because many philosophers in sgforums got their inspirations by simply strolling along this lovely beach. (I am joking lah, sgforums where got philosophers?) So simple right, you walk walk here and you walk walk there and then suddenly Ah Ha!!!

And of course there is always the ice cream. Just by the beach is a 3-storeys house where Mr. Weidev and his young girlfriend live. Old Mr. Weidev is a very generous person. You can enjoy his delicious homemade ice cream for very cheap prices. There are so many flavours to chose from, strawberry, chocolate, mango, vanilla, raspberry, etc. You name it and he has it! And if you are a cute young lady, you might even get it for free!!! How sweet!!!

Further down the beach you will see a huge inn called Sinned Ave, a paradise for sinners own by Sinned. It has a huge garden with exotic flowers and numerous pavilions for people to relax and chi-chat. A gentle reminder for all visitors, please turn off your hand-phones before entering the place. In fact, dont need lah since all forms of modern technology would become useless here. Yes I know, Mr. Sinned has forgotten to pay his utilities bills again. Another amazing thing about this place is you find yourself unable to lie. So in here we have nothing to hide for we know everyone will be truthful.

Hey you! You again! What are you doing? Why are you taking off your clothes?!!! Nothing to hide doesnt mean you have to be naked!!! Go face the wall and before you do put on your underwear you pervert!!!

Amour intemporel, meaning timeless love in French. I ran my thumb over the carved message on the flute. If that was really what you promised, why did you have to leave me? Timeless love. Is that even possible?

A lone figure was standing by the sea. Her dress was swaying freely with the wind but she seemed to a trapped in her thoughts. An exquisite flute lay in her hands and she seemed to be running her thumb over some carvings on the flute.

Her face, so devastatingly beautiful, yet it held such sadness that even one could cry for her. She was not tearing then, but there were hints of dried tears on her cheeks. She seemed to be thinking about something, or rather someone. Someone so dear to her, someone who constantly plagued her thoughts, someone whom she would never forget. That certain someone.

Good morning! I am NAME, the keeper of this dolphin sea! Welcome here. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me! a cute boyish voice said. Xue Ting turned around, and surprising, she saw a handsome man. But his voice was so boyish, she thought. She checked him out, staring at him from head to toe. Not bad looking, she smiled, but when she saw that smile on NAMEs face, she realized that she had been caught checking him out and blushed.

A tingly feeling sprung out inside her. He is affecting me so much, but I shant worry. I think it is only a tiny crush, she thought, but she didnt realize that she couldnt stop thinking about him.

NAME saw one of the visitors checking him out and smiled at her knowingly. He thought she would be like the rest and flirt with him (though he didnt really like people flirting with him) and was quite impressed to see the girl blush and look away. She is quite cute, so shy. She has pretty eyes too, NAME thought, I hope I will get to know her.

That was their first meeting, and from there, their story began.

Oh my, these dolphins are so cute and they seem to be enjoying their little game, Xue Ting smiled to herself as she watched the dolphins play with a small ball.

Yes, they are enjoying themselves. See, they are producing those cute noises. Seeing them does make me feel happier and more relaxed, NAME told Xue Ting. He looked at the dolphins and had a cute expression on his face. Xue Ting was surprised by his presence as she hadnt felt anyone behind her but on the other hand, she felt sudden warmth coming from her insides. She felt very uncomfortable to be so near a stranger, yet she also felt very safe next to him. Whats happening to me? She questioned herself. She felt weird.

But above all, a new feeling sprouted out from deep inside her heart, and it started to grow.

What was that weird feeling inside her? It felt so magical and mysterious, like you are never able to know whats going to happen.

It was sunset and the scenery was very captivating. Two figures could be seen sitting along the dolphin sea chatting like they already known the other for a long time.

They were attracted to each other.

You are going home now? NAME asked.

Yes, I think I will miss talking to you. You are such a good chatting buddy, and you know so much about dolphins! I love dolphins! Xue Ting replied, and she leaned in to hug NAME. NAME was stunned, but he wrapped his arm around Xue Ting to return the friendly hug. He knew this girl was different from the rest and that he liked this girl but he didnt know what to do about it. He didnt want to lose the chance to know her better as he knew if he let her go without doing anything, he might lose contact with her. But he was also afraid that if he were to be too bold, she would be frightened.

Xue Ting, II, NAME stammered. He was never so shy around girls before and that was the first time he stammered. Xue Ting looked at him questioningly. He plucked up his courage and asked her out for a date, and she agreed to it immediately and gave him her number.

Yes! I did it. I asked her out and she agreed! I even got her number, NAME thought. Being the adorable guy he was, he even did victory signs to himself. She is such a special girl. I hope we will have a good time together on our date. And maybe, she is the one

Oh my god, he asked me out. He is so unbelievably cute and he even stammered when he asked. How cute can a guy get, Xue Ting thought smiling to herself.

That whole night, she thought of NAME and his brilliant smile and when she slept, she dreamt about the dolphin sea and about a certain handsome young keeper of the dolphin sea.

She was all ready for the date. Dressed in a blouse and a flowy skirt, carrying a small handbag and having a light makeup on, she looked very sweet. It was their first date, and she was pretty much looking forward to it. She liked him and hoped that their relationship could progress.

The doorbell rang. She quickly went to the door and came face to face with NAME. He placed her hand on his arm and led her to his car. He pulled opened the door for her. He is like a perfect boyfriend, so gentleman and sweet, Xue Ting thought.

Our first date was perfect. He was so sweet to me. He told me that dolphins are the guardians of love and we were brought together by dolphins. So does it mean that our love will be forever?

I am falling, falling deeper and deeper in love with him. Love is so unpredictable, so new to me, but when I am with him, nothing matters. I feel safe in his arms.

What do you want to be in your next life? Xue Ting asked NAME, looking into his eyes.

I want to be dolphin, so carefree and be able to guard over people whom I love. What do you want to be in your next life? NAME replied. Xue Ting closed her eyes for a moment, to think about what NAME had just asked her.

If you want to be a dolphin, I want to be one too, so that we can love again in our next life.

They were walking along the dolphin sea when Xue Ting lost slipped and lost balance. She was falling and she quickly shut her eyes, expecting herself to hit the water. Suddenly, she felt a pair of strong arms encircle her waist and lift her up. She opened her eyes and NAMEs face was right above hers.

Dont worry, I will catch you when you fall, NAME told Xue Ting, his eyes twinkling with mischief. Xue Ting immediately blushed and her cheeks became red and hot.

Are you sure you will be there for me when I need you? Xue Ting asked.

Yes, I promise I will be there for you and protect you, always and forever. When you fall into the darkest pit, I will bring you light, I will save you, and I will be your faith. Will you let me be your knight in shinning armour? NAME asked. Xue Ting could feel the love from him, she nodded without hesitation. He smiled and leaned down. The next moment, his lips landed on hers.

Under the moonlight, they shared their first kiss along the dolphin sea, the place they first met.

This is for you. Would you like to play a piece for me? NAME passed Xue Ting a flute and gave her his infamous puppy look. Xue Ting smiled at his childish antics and took the flute. She played a melodious tune. Love, happiness and hope were all intertwined in the music.

After she finished playing the flute, she ran her fingers over the carvings.

What is amour intemporel? she asked curiously.

It means timeless love, just like how our love will go on forever, he told her and placed a kiss on her forehead.

A flower bloomed inside her. She was certain that it was love. Till then, love was sweet.

NAME played with the ring in his pocket. The ring had a dolphin and the diamond was between its fins. She is going to love this ring so much, he thought. He had specially ordered this from America and he had just collected it today and couldnt wait to give it to her. He was going to propose to Xue Ting today and he was going to make Xue Ting the happiest woman in the whole wide world. Are you ready to be Mrs. Kim? He smiled to himself at the thought of it.

Xue Ting waited outside the posh restaurant. She looked at her watch to check the time. 7.15pm. She was fifteen minutes early. Why are we eating at such a posh restaurant? Xue Ting wondered. She asked NAME, but he refused to tell her and she gave up asking. There must be some sort of surprise, she thought, maybe it is some special day. His birthday? No. Her birthday? No. Their anniversary? No. Then what is it?

Suddenly, she had a very weird feeling, like something bad is going to happen. She shuddered. NAME, please be safe.

Well, I am almost there. I cant wait to reveal to her. My insides are screaming from excitement. NAME laughed to himself. Suddenly, his left eye twitched. Nothing bad is going to happen, especially on this special day, he comforted himself. But it didnt seem to work. That bad feeling still stayed there.

Sometimes life doesnt go the way you expect it to. And in many occasions, it goes the opposite.

NAME was walking along the pavement. He saw a child running across the road. There was an incoming car. The child saw it and stood still in the middle of the road, shell shocked. Fortunately, NAME ran to the boy and pushed him away. The boy was saved, but NAME got knocked down by the car and flew several meters from the spot he was standing.

Xue Ting, I am sorry. I had to save that boy. He is so young and still has a long way to go in life. I am sorry about leaving you alone, I am sorry that I will not be able to bring you happiness, I am sorry I cant protect you like how I used to anymore. I hope you can forgive me.

I will be your guardian angel. Be strong and live on. A tear rolled down his cheeks. He was going to die soon. He took his last breath.

Lets meet in our next life, as dolphins. I love you, Xue Ting. I love you. With that, NAME closed his eyes. He left her.

Bang! Xue Ting heard the impact and turned around. She still had that bad feeling. NAME, please be safe, her mind was still chanting. The scene before her was too terrifying. NAME was lying motionless in a puddle of blood. Blood was still oozing profusely from his head. She couldnt help herself. She ran towards NAME.

She knelt next to his body and shook him. NAME, wake up. Wake up please. Tell me you are only joking with me. Wake up. Tears were running down her cheeks. She couldnt feel anything nor see anything but the lifeless body before her. It was like her whole world just crumbled. She felt as if she were torn apart, her life crushed and shattered. She pulled NAMEs body up and hugged him. Dont leave me. I am scared. I need you. NAME

Sorry, we couldnt do anything to save him. He already stopped breathing before he came in, the doctor told Xue Ting and passed her the ring. Xue Ting looked at the ring in her hand. He was going to propose to me. We were supposed to get married and have many kids. We were supposed to be the happiest couple. Why? Why did you have to leave me? Didnt you promise me? Didnt you promise to love me forever? Didnt you

She held the ring to her heart. I love you, NAME.

They were separated by death and they would never be able to meet again.

Xue Ting stood alone by the dolphin sea. She raised the flute to her mouth and blew into it. A lovely piece came out, you could hear the love she had for NAME, but also the sorrow she was feeling in her music. Bittersweet and heartwrenching.

NAME, I will meet you in my next life. Wait for me. Xue Ting slowly walked towards the sea. She walked deeper and deeper in. the water level was at her chin then and she made herself fall frontward. She could feel the water against her face. It was cold, like death.

Slowly, she felt breathless, but she didnt bother to reach for the water surface. Se was tired, depressed and she felt as if there was no reason to live anymore. She had lost her will to live on. She loosened her grip on her life and let it go.

NAME, I am coming.

Darkness overcame her.

All of a sudden, Xue Ting saw light again. Am I dead? She opened her eyes slowly and looked at her surroundings.

She could see the sea clearly and also felt the water moving under her feet. She glanced down, and found herself on a dolphins back. I am not dead, she thought to herself. He saved me again. And I know its him.

I want to be dolphin, so carefree and be able to guard over people whom I love. Dont worry, I will catch you when you fall. It means timeless love, just like how our love will go on forever. His voice was running through her mind. Xue Ting could see his smile, hear his voice and even feel his presence.

Suddenly, she wanted to live. To live for him, to live to love him. She found the meaning in life again, all because of him.

NAME, as for now, you will be the dolphin and I will live as a dolphin lover. And when I die, I will become a dolphin to be with you. And this way, our love will go on eternally, she whispered under her breath. She was sure that he would hear it. NAME, I love you.

True love is everlasting. Even death will not be able to put a stop to true love. It will go on forever and ever.
