Notebooks for Poetry

Can I ask you guys: what notebooks do you use for composing your poetry?

I use cheap generic A'Zone notebooks which can be bought in any good neighbourhood bookshop. I've more or less been using that since I started eight years ago. I now have twelve of those notebooks:

As you can see, they are in varying states of degradation. I would buy more durable notebooks, but I can't afford to do so. I was particularly interested in buying a Moleskine when we were at Books Actually the other day, but ultimately, my budget dictates the bottom line. Sigh. Confused

So... what kind of writing medium do you guys use? Old-fashioned notebooks, loose pieces of paper, or Microsoft Word?

hey, i have a couple of A'Zones too. actually not too bad to write on.
and lots of loose paper. Mr. Green

i like to draft my stuff on paper with pencil, then key in the finished article with Notepad on the PC.

eh... i'll always use some sort of a shorthand pad-like notebook where i can scribble and amend at will without being hindered by flapping pages. The ring-bounded kind which makes tearing easy, especially on those waste-paper basket practise days... When i'm satisfied with what i wrote, i'll write it in a better quality ring-bound book. Laughing

My notebook is my microsoft word on my laptop.
Easy lah, for practical reasons, no need to scramble around for loose pieces of paper or a notebook which I might not have at hand with me.
Editing is cleaner as well. No ugly lines scratching across words that don't fit or phrases that jar Confused

ooh.... i love those A-Zone notebooks.... they are must-haves for me during my studies... both graduate and post-graduate... i use them for writing my notes and summaries as I study... one for each subject so that when exams come round, I didn't have to read the text book anymore... i could just read my A-Zone notebooks... kekek

As for writing... whether poetry or not... my "notebook" is my notebook.... the computer. makes for easy and clean editing and storage... and I don't have to worry about lose bits of paper getting lost etc.

Laptop:

Mass: 2.1kg (Toshiba Tecra M2V- my laptop).
Booting time: 30 seconds (or more, depending on my stoopid laptop's temper)
Distraction factor: Plenty (Gmail, MSN, sgforums, etc....)
Portability: Sometimes too lazy to lug it around in my backpack.
Power source: batteries last ~2 hours.

A'Zone Notebook:

Mass: ~ 100g
Booting time: Instantaneous
Distraction factor: none.
Portability: Very lightweight and portable.
Power source: My own brain.

There's a reason why I kinda prefer good ol' fashioned notebooks - even when I have my laptop with me. Laughing

if i have inspiration to write poetry during non-exam period will just use some loose pieces of paper.

I always bring a Digital voice recorder along since 2002. So its quite easy when the inspiration comes.. Mr. Green

typically, scraps of paper for verse fragments (and straplines, come to think of it). notebooks -- those are reserved for scamps.

but i've found that i write best when i'm typing away on my laptop, blogging. cos that's when i have all the time to myself to refine, craft and pontificate.

Any piece of paper available to me when ideas hit me and I'm commited enough to draft them down... So basically I'm a MESSY LOT who have them all over the places and never really keeps track of them... Mr. Green Except unless I happens to be online maybe?

I like to use notebooks with ring bindings. I used to like Azone type notebooks but the pages tend to drop out. but most of the time my drafts are done on the computer – Microsoft word.
