Yeah, when something as simple as a fuel exhaustion, then the
parachute is deployed, there just be many in many chances that
control would totally be lost and the plane will go smashing into a
building/high object.
If no parachute, then the plane would just ditch into the Hudson
River in this case, and survive most likely.
