Airbus chief hints at announcement of major new order
PARIS : Airbus chief executive Noel Forgeard said the European
aircraft manufacturer expects to make an announcement regarding a
major new order.
"We've obtained a big part of the market with Jet Blue,
Independence Air, Spirit Airlines, Frontier, America West and
Virgin America in the United States and easyJet in Europe and
another important one which we are thinking of announcing in the
future," Forgeard told the French business daily Les Echos.
Regarding orders, he said the industry should reach the same level
as last year, or even perhaps better, in his first comments since
executives at rival Boeing disputed Airbus's rosy forecasts.
Airbus is to deliver this year "more than 305 planes and more than
Boeing," said Forgeard.
"For the coming years the recovery is more than just emerging, it's
on our order book," he said.
