Hello All!!
Posing this question to all Pilots, LAMEs or whoever with relevant
experiences, is there any difference in the handling of a
conventional ie: cable or hydraulics linked controls to the yoke
and that of a FBW aircraft?
It takes some strength to pull/ push a conventional yoke with
cables/ hydraulics linked and that would provide some feedback
whereas I assume that a FBW yoke B777 or sidestick for Airbus
aircrafts would provide no feedback since there is no direct
linkage to the control surfaces at all and hence relatively light
to manupilate.
Having said that, assuming one who flew say a B747/ 767 and went on
to fly a B777 or the Airbus series aircrafts, would it take some
getting used to not having the 'feel"? I am assuming there is no
feedback mechanism in these FBW controls and if there is, is there
still some differences as well?
I read that the original F-16 sidestick would not move at all and
some pilots weren't comfortable with that so they made the
sidestick move a little.
