About 40 years ago, my family and I lived in Singapore - from
about 1972-1976. My mother Rose Cherrier was an artist who used
textiles to create beautiful tapestries of Singapore life. Her
assistant, Siti Normey binte Ismail, was a young seamstress we
hired to help out. But she became much more than that. She became
like a member of our family and eventually came to live with
us while helping our mother with her creations. Unfortunately, my
father became very ill and we had to return to the United States.
Siti's parents wanted her to stay in Singapore, so we parted with
many tears. I've since tried to locate Siti over the years with no
luck. Luckily the internet has opened many doors in my search,
which is why I eventually landed here. I'm assuming Siti is married
by now and might have a different name. If anyone has any
suggestion as to where else I might look, I would welcome the
advice. The only information I have is Siti's maiden name. Please
help.
