I think the issue here is being competent rather than
systematic. If he's competent to stand trial, he could well be up
for the death sentence.
I'm not up to speed on the deatils of the case, but is he claiming
split personality? If he is, that dog just ain't gonna hunt - the
Anerican Hillside Strangler case in the late 70's put paid to that
as a credible defence.
