10. Zac Efron
Beard-story:Zac is trying to
make us all forget about that Charlie St. Cloud bomb he dropped on
movie theaters this year with a lil' bit o' chin pubes. We don't
totally hate it, but we will if it reaches Joaquin Phoenix
lengths.
9. Robert Pattinson
Beard-story: Rob
finished shooting Water For Elephants and immediately revolted
against the clean-cut, clean-shaven look he sported for the film.
Sure, he bearded up so he could follow Kristen Stewart around North
America incognito style. But it didn't work (yes Lubbock TX, we're
looking at you), and we want that pasty, perfect skin back!
8.David Beckham
Beard-story: Becks has
been rockin' the summer casual facial hair look for too long, and
we were pleased to see he's now buzzed back to his clean shaven
look. When in doubt about facial hair, remember: WWVD - What Would
Victoria Do?
7. Ryan Gosling
Beard-story: The Gos
sported this man-mess while promoting Lars and the Real Girl in
2008. The look was only, uh, accentuated by a wicked case of bloat
face. Thankfully he has since lost the muff and the puff.
6. Conan O'Brien
Beard-story: Conan was
forced into early retirement (for a few months) and immediately
tossed the razor aside. His ginger growth is still going strong -
he's been rocking the beard in promos for his new show.
5. John Travolta
Beard-story: Travolta's
been fighting off rumors of fake hair (on his head) for years, so
consider this his weird way of retaliating against the gossip. He's
currently freed his face; no comment on what's going on up top.
4.Brad Pitt
Beard-story: Brad is, quite
possibly, the most gorgeous clean-shaven man in the world. But
earlier this year he insulted millions when he sported a scraggly
beard complete with tiny braids. Thankfully he stopped letting his
kids style him and he's gone back to the blade.
3. Mel Gibson
Beard-story: Mel sported
this beard in 2008; he was apparently just trying to break us all
in for the crazy that was yet to come.
2. Spencer Pratt
Beard-story: There's
douche, and then there's douche with a bit o' beard on top.
Spencer's facial hair has made him look - and act - that much more
insane.
1. Joaquin Phoenix
Beard-story: Joaquin
sported this beard as he turned his career into the trainwreck that
can now be enjoyed on the big screen, the fake-umentary I'm
Still Here. Joaquin is, indeed, still around. His facial
disaster is thankfully long gone.
