It's fine, white lights or flourescent lights are many many
times more efficient than conventional lighting ( yellow lights
).
Check whether the bulbs are the regular T8, the shade whether
cool white or warm white does not matter.
The current bulbs for energy saving is the T5 bulbs, which are
slimmer than the T8.
To switch to the energy saving lights, you need to calculate the
change over costs, and the time need to realise the savings.
