Dear friends,

Do patiently wait for the two images to load. Theyll take about 2
minutes at most. Ive created some cool diagrams so that itll be
easier for you guys to understand whats going on. And also, pat
greater attention to the stuff in BOLD and
italic..
Cheerioz,

Name of School: Temasek Junior College
Subject of spa: Physics
Month of attempt: May
Skill: Skill B only
Number of attempts: 1/3
Topic on: Oscillations of a circular disk
Set up: You are provided with 2 Disks (Disk A and B), 3 pieces of
strings (forgot the length)
3 clips, 6 assorted masses
The set up
is as shown in Figure one

Table: (Refer to Figure 2)

Oh yah
. You only need to take 6 readings; I guess
you guys know that right?
Then you need to account for your points
Draw a best-fit straight
line. You can account for your data in two
ways.
If all your points form a straight line, you say
.
The date points are reliable as there is little scatter
about the best fit line.
OR
If there are some points out of place, you say
From the graph plotted, the _____ (1st, 2nd 3rd or 4th)
data point appears anomalous as it deviates significantly from the
trend. This data is retaken and recorded as the 7th data point,
which is in line with the trend. The possible cause of the anomaly
is _________________ (eg. The presence of wind.)
The data points are reliable as there is little scatter of points
about the best fit line.
Shape of Graph: Straight line
Other values/measurements we must find: none
Precautions for marking scheme: Please remember to put your
battery on the retort stand!!! Do set small angles of oscillations and time
only when the oscillations are steady
And one more thing,
dont put your masses on Disk A
. Put them on Disk
B! (It has happened to a student) AND.. dont
swing your disk like a pendulum.. All the masses will fall
and fly k (Yes, it has happened)
. Turn it anti-clockwise or
clockwise and let it oscillate.. Get what I mean? (If you still
dont understand, refer to figure 1)
