YOU CAN'T BE IN HARRY POTTER ..YOU'RE FROM
ESSEX!
By Aidan Mcgurran
A SCHOOLGIRL wept after she tried to audition for the new Harry
Potter movie and was told: "No Essex girls."
April Waterman, 13, queued for hours with thousands of other young
hopefuls for a chance of playing Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter and
the Order of the Phoenix.
When she reached the front of the line, the production crew asked
her where she came from.
After saying she lived in Rainham, Essex, she claims they told her:
"No one from Essex."
Her shocked mother Christina, 43, said: "She came out in tears and
asked her father, 'What's wrong with coming from Essex'? I was so
angry.
"If she had been treated fairly, she would have had a good
chance."
April joined the audition queue outside City Hall in Westminster,
Central London, at 8.30am. She was finally at the front by
lunchtime.
Dad Gary, 45, had to comfort her when she came out crying shortly
afterwards.
He said: "She said a woman standing with someone with a clipboard
said 'Not Essex'. She was so excited and desperate to get to the
audition but she didn't get a chance.
"We knew it was 2,000-1 she would get the part and she may not have
been successful. Our concern is the cold-heartedness of what they
said."
Now April has vowed to snub all Harry Potter books and films.
But Vanessa Davies, spokeswoman for Harry Potter Productions said:
"Girls from all over the UK and Ireland were welcome to
audition.
"She may have overheard someone who was not part of the production
say it. I don't know where this has come from, not from anybody in
our organisation." - Daily Mirror
