Mice Created to Produce Key Human Blood Protein
A team of Korean researchers has created mice that can generate an
expensive protein necessary for human bodies to function
efficiently.
The team, led by Prof. Kim Jin-hoi at Gyeongsang National
University, Wednesday announced they genetically engineered mice to
produce erythropoietin, the growth factor in blood.
``We made nine genetically-modified mice and obtained
erythropoietin en masse from their milk, the 46-year-old
scientist said.
