A Childs Prayer

O ALMIGHTY God, who hast given unto me my father and mother, and made them to be an image of Thine authority, and love, and tender watchfulness; and hast commanded me to love, and honour, and obey them in all things: give me grace cheerfully and with my whole heart to keep this Thy law. Help me to love them fervently, to honour them truly, to yield a ready obedience to their commands, to comply with their wishes, to study their happiness in everything, and to bear their rebukes with patience and humility. Deliver me O God, from pride, rebellion and wilfulness, from passion and stubbornness, from sloth and carelessness. Make me diligent in all my duties and studies, and patient in all my trials; that so living, I may deserve to be Thy child, who art our Father in Heaven. Amen.

Strengthen them to overcome the corruptions of the world, to resist all solicitations to evil, whether from within or without; and deliver them from the secret snares of the enemy. Pour Thy grace into their hearts, and confirm and multiply in them the gifts of Thy Holy Spirit, that they may daily grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ; and so, faithfully serving Thee here, may come to rejoice in Thy presence hereafter. Rosary is a chain of beads used in prayers in some religion eg. Buddhism, Catholicism, Islam.

The Catholic rosary looks something like that

If you notice in some CNN news on US wars with some countries, some soldiers will wear the rosary around their neck. Day to day, I don't see people doing that though.

On the first Sunday of October in 1571, a naval battle took place at Lepanto between the Holy League and the Turks. Don John of Austria lead the Christian forces over the Turkish fleet. In Rome on that same day rosary processions were held by the members of the Rosary confraternity.

St. Pius V thereupon ordered that a commemoration of the Rosary should be made upon that day, and at the request of the Dominican Order Gregory XIII in 1573 allowed this feast to be kept in all churches which possessed an altar dedicated to the Holy Rosary.

Actually, I don't know...it's the first time I've heard of the Divine Offices Embarassed (though I consulted Google and some prayers are familiar). The Angelus and Regina Coeli are definitely well-known traditional Catholic prayers, and they were printed in my old school diary. Smile
