tracts and putting into people's doorstep. But they all do it every
discreetly. Why? It is illegal in the first place to hand out such
stuff. If you don't believe, try handing one of this tract to me
and let me report to the police. You will see if any action be
taken. Why is it illegal? think about.
And his accusation against the Roman Catholic Church is all
bull.
Scripture and Tradition
As for the biblical part, please look at this http://www.sgforums.com/?action=thread_display&thread_id=127310
"I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain
the traditions even as I have delivered them to you" (1 Cor.
11:2).
"Follow the pattern of the sound words which you have heard from
me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus; guard the
truth that has been entrusted to you by the Holy Spirit who dwells
within us" (2 Tim. 1:13-14).
"So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you
were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter." (2 Thess.
2:15)
"You, then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus,
and what you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to
faithful men who will be able to teach others also" (2 Tim.
2:1-2).
"First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of
Scripture is a matter of ones own interpretation, because no
prophecy ever came by the impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy
Spirit spoke from God" (2 Peter 1:20-21).
"Though I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper
and ink, but I hope to come to see you and talk with you face to
face, so that our joy may be complete" (2 John 12).
All these above were conveniently ignored by the Protestants. Why
so? Because the Protestants do not have tradition. Why not? Because
they branched out from the apostolic church and bible was the only
thing that they brought along with them when they left.
Everything about why Protestants believe in this or are against
that, is every straight forward. Some of the points, I don't even
need to refer to the bible and quote the phrases.
As for jealousy? Why not? While so many Protestant Church (esp the
newly founded ones) forced and brainwashed their members to donate
20% of their monthly salary to the church, the Catholic church
collects a few thousand times more by simply passing the bag around
during Mass. No brainwashing required. The recent death of the late
Pope John Paul II draws attention from leaders all over the world.
We will never see a Protestant leader having this kind of
privilege.
Chick dun represent the whole Protestant Church. Neither do I
endorse his way of speculations. But some of the things he quote
can be further research because i personally dun take a man's word
for all its worth, not even pastors.
My basis of whether a church, denomination has erred is not based
on personally prejudice (myself being a ex-RC) and criticising
things, people or systems that i do not belong to is not the
way.
The Bible has revealed to us, bible-believing Christians the
revelation about God and His only Son Jesus Christ. The plan of
redemption, the sin reality of men and their helplessness. The
perfect remission of sins through the atoning blood of Christ and
i'm sure the RC teaches that as well. However, adding on to
something that has already been perfected shows that the former is
not perfect at all. And adding something not mentioned in the
Scriptures makes it worse.
Popularity and public acceptance is not a criteria nor a litmus
test to whether or not something is genuine and right. The Bible in
all of its books has shown us a pattern of human race persistently
rejecting and denying the truths about God and coming to embrace
His rulership. Man's defiance and rebelliousness is coherent to
all. And regarding the Pope John Paul II death drawing attention
from world leaders and whether or not such a thing will happen if
it were a Protestant leader.....that is something we as Christians
r not supposed to be particular about...we fear God and not men,
similarly we desire God's approval and not men's.
"All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the
end will be saved." -Matthew 10:22
Because of the name and the gospel of Jesus Christ, Christians will
have to face tremendous oppositions and hatred. Simply because the
truths found within the gospel is offensive to sinful men and the
amount of commitment and changes required is something unpopular.
The possible reasons why the Roman Pontiff has enjoyed public and
even worldwide acceptance comes mainly because he embrace the other
faiths as if they are ultimate truths as well. Religious harmony
and tolerance is something people like and encourage because that
means they can continue to live in their lies and deceptions
without some 'holy than thou' evangelical christians come along and
tell them they are wrong and the Bible is right. That is something
people hate and dislike and to refrain from doing so will mean
gaining acceptance. On the contrary, the Jesus of the Bible, the
Messiah tells us to preach the good news of His kingdom, to
disciple and to rebuke with the Word those who have erred and
strayed away from the true God......with love and gentleness
though, helping them to come back and leave the lifestyle of
iniquity. I would agree that biblie-believing Christians at times
focus more on the error but forget about the love and grace of God.
which does not mean that everything can be tolerated and showing
compromise...there needs to be a line drawn and that line must come
from understanding and accepting the Bible as authoritative in all
it has to say.
Concerning the monetary income, Christians dont give 20%...rather
as mentioned in the Bible it is a tenth of the harvest. In our
context that amounts up to 10%. And biblical giving must be willing
and sacrificial and not having idea that we can outgive God and
bride Him. The comparison between incomes gaining from donations
and tithes is again something the Kingdom of God is not concerned
with. In wealth or in poverty of this world, the Kingdom still
rules and reign in all power and majesty.
The bottomline is: I personally do not endorsed all that the Chick
tracts have to offer and further research needs to be done. The
basis of a mature and bible-believing Christian discernment whether
or not a church has erred or something is biblically wrong must
comes from the Bible whom we regard as God-inspired and
God-breathed. Fully authoritative and has the final say in all the
issues concerned. Not a human leader, not a supreme pontiff.
