Halloween coming to Universal Studios
Singapore
SINGAPORE: Singapore's biggest theme park is gearing
up to send more than shiver up visitors' spines for this year's
Halloween.
Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) said half of allocated
tickets to Universal Studios Singapore's first Halloween event have
been sold a week before the seven-night "spooktacular" starts on
October 21.
The Integrated Resort said it is also considering
collaborations with Singapore Polytechnic for future editions of
the scare-fest, which is intended to be a yearly affair.
The school's partnership with Wildlife Reserves Singapore to stage
an annual Halloween event fell through recently.
There will be six scare zones for the Universal Studios Singapore's
"Halloween Horror Nights" and a fright night awaits for those who
turn up, warns Andrea Teo, who is the vice-president of
entertainment and events at RWS.
"This will be extremely scary. In fact, I think we've probably
raised the normal scare-quotient to about two above normal. This is
not suitable for children. So I expect there will be a reaction. It
will be interesting to watch what the reaction will be. All I can
say is that you guys have been warned," said Ms Teo.
In an old Peranakan home, the spirit of a murdered matriarch plots
revenge and it looks like she got her wish.
Slithering through the zones are 280 "scare-actors" who've put in
lots of sweat and fake blood - 25 litres a night to be exact.
"I'm a "Carn-Evil Barker" in Hollywood land where we're having the
"Carn-Evil" - evil carnival. What I do is that basically I draw
people to the various attractions that we have so I shall keep it a
secret. I won't tell you," said Jody Doo, one of the
scare-actors.
But the scariest bit could be piling on the pounds as a special
menu has been specially catered for the occasion.
