A woman has admitted to leaving her child in a pram at a taxi
stand at Tiong Bahru Plaza.
The 32 year old woman was originally charged with child
abandonment, but admitted to a reduced charge of wilfully
neglecting the child in circumstances that were likely to endanger
his safety on Sept 11 last year.
The incident apparently stemmed from the woman's marital
problems.
She committed the act to gain her husband's attention
The woman's lawyer told the court that she suffered from
post-natal blues and was undergoing counseling.
Community court judge May Mesenas has called for a
pre-sentencing report on the 21st of April.
If convicted, the woman faces a fine of up to $4,000 or a
maximum jail term of 4 years or both.
