SINGAPORE: Some 2,100 calls were made to the MediaCorp
news hotline during the month of December last year, a 100-per-cent
increase compared to the month before.
The hotline calls are followed up by reporters from across
MediaCorp's news platforms, namely Channel NewsAsia, Radio and
TODAY.
40-year-old financial planner Phillip Lee was the winner of the
2008 MediaCorp hotline contest. He won a trip for two to Cebu,
Philippines.
He called the MediaCorp hotline about being stuck on the Singapore
Flyer.
The giant observation wheel ground to a halt in December due to an
electrical fire.
Lee was among the more than 170 passengers who were stuck in their
capsules for over six hours.
