Several fires broke out on Thursday with the first at Punggol
Port Road about the size of 5 football fields.
Civil Defence officers were at the scene with 1 fire engine, 1
rhino and 1 firebike.
And at Lim Chu Kang - officers are fighting a fire at Lanes 5 and 6
about the size of 8 football fields.
6 fire engines have been despatched to the scene and at the moment
no one has been injured or evacuated from their homes.
Officers are also trying to bring a fire about the size of 5
football fields under control at Lanes 6C and F in Lim Chu
Kang.
While presently none of the farms have been affected, the recent
dry spell has left some farmers in Lim Chu Kang high and dry.
The farmers have been collecting rain water for irrigation but with
plunging water levels, the owner of one lotus pond worries his
flowers may perish when the pond dries up.
The farmer has been recycling water but says only a downpour could
save his plants.
Farmers are also worried about bush fires, fearing they'd have no
water to fight the fire with. - CNA
