Indonesian maid, toddler found dead in Tiong
Bahru
SINGAPORE : Two loud thuds and screams shook a quiet neighbourhood
near Tiong Bahru on Saturday.
Residents looked out of their windows to find two bodies at the
foot of an HDB block at Kim Tian Place.
It was a grim sight for many residents who gathered near Block 120
Kim Tian Place after they heard a commotion between 2.30pm and
3pm.
They saw the body of a 21-year-old Indonesian woman among the
bushes near the block and a dead five-month-old boy just metres
away.
They are believed to have fallen from the 23rd floor of the block,
where the baby's grandparents lived.
A neighbour said: "We heard two loud screams and two loud
thuds...my husband went out to look, went to the window, we tried
to look, we thought it was a car accident."
Another neighbour said: "From (the) balcony, I heard one loud thud
followed by another. I looked down and did not see anything. Later
I saw a middle-aged man crying loudly."
Investigations revealed that the Indonesian woman is a maid
employed by the baby's parents.
The five-month-old boy dressed in a white shirt and pink pants was
pronounced dead at 3.15pm, while the Indonesian maid dressed in
dark brown t-shirt and checked bermudas died 10 minutes later.
