Didn't know this afternoons rain caused so much trouble
SINGAPORE : Floods were reported in several areas in Singapore
following heavy thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon.
Callers called Channel NewsAsia's Hotline to report floods at
Thomas Road outside the United Square Building and at Bencoolen
Street outside the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
Traffic along Braddell Road slowed to a crawl when the water level
in drains rose rapidly, and flooded the area.
A carpark located at Block 317, Serangoon Avenue 2 was flooded at
about 3pm, and two cars were damaged by a fallen tree.
When the water receded an hour later, car owners discovered water
seeped in and damaged the interior of their vehicles.
After the rain lightened, the fallen tree was cleared by workers
from Marine Parade Town Council.
Moderate to heavy rain fell between 2.50pm and 4pm.
Earlier, the Meteriological Service has warned of possible flash
floods in low-lying areas. - CNA
