Back in 2003-2005, while I was still in Singapore, my wife and I
were members of Planet fitness. Normally I will go for the
boxicese, and she loves the Pilate class. I never want to join, as
I deem it to be 'soft', and more over, if I go, I will be the only
male.
One day, she managed to drag me into the class. I was
think, how much damage can it be? But I was wrong.
Pilate train our core strength, and after that training, my
body were shaken upside down. (I was rather fit in those
days, running 10km below 50 minutes at 36yrs, 12 pull up
etc).
As the only man in the class, there are many things the girls
can do, and I can't. (not as flexible). Thus naturally,
you will hear people giggling because of the silliness when you
tried to those positions.
From there on, every time before Pilate class, I would have the
butterfly in the stomach feeling, much like the feeling before SOC
(for those ex soldiers, u will know what i mean). But the
fact is, I felt stronger each time, and my flexibility also
increased tremendously.
So, should guys take Pilate class? My simple answer is
yes. But be prepared to be the laughing stock in
class.
