On May 21, which is Wesak Day, several events have been planned
from 7am to 8.45pm, starting with morning
prayers. In
CONJUNCTION with Wesak Day, the Genting Buddhist Group is
organising a number of prayers and activities for Buddhists at the
Genting International Convention Centre (GICC) Meeting Room 7 to 12
of First World Hotel tomorrow and Saturday.
The Genting Buddhist Group has invited Venerable Xing Ji from
Zhen Ru Monastery Kuala Lumpur to conduct the two-day Wesak Day
ceremony.
An exhibition will also be held at GICC to mark the
start of Wesak on May 20 followed by a presentation of the Buddha’s
Relic. Venerable Kong Yung Zhong will also be giving a “Dharma
Discourse” after the event.
This will be followed by morning chanting (7am),
meditation (7.45am), offering to Buddha (11am), individual and mass
family refuge taking in the Triple Gem (3.30pm), evening chanting
(4.15pm), the lighting of lamps (8.30pm) and the bathing of Buddha
ceremony at 8.45pm.
The bathing of Buddha ceremony symbolises the
elimination of the three evils of greed, hatred and
ignorance.
The ceremony will also be held at the Chin Swee
Temple, 13th Floor Sky Terrace today until May 22, between 8am and
6pm.
Besides prayers, the Genting Buddhist Group will
also be conducting a fundraising campaign for the Pahang-Mentakab
Dialysis Centre which provides free dialysis care for the
poor.
The Genting Buddhist Group will also contribute to
the Dhamagiri Orphanage Centre to help fund their monthly
expenses.
