The American pilot who dropped the first atomic
bomb has died aged 92 - with no regrets.
To his dying day, the experienced pilot insisted
he never lost a single's night sleep over the apocalyptic mission
and that his main concern was to do the "best job" he
could.
Nicknamed 'Little Boy' the bomb killed 78,000
people instantly but by the end of 1945 the death total had reached
140,000.
He stated in an interview
with newspaper the Columbus Dispatch in 1975: "I'm not proud that I
killed 80,000 people, but I'm proud that I was able to start with
nothing, plan it and have it work as perfectly as it did.

It is not so much who will be punished and
what sort of punishment the people responsible for the atomic
bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki will receive in term of the
Karmic effect of their action. Karma in Buddhism is Intention, in
Sutta AN 4.77 Acintita Sutta:
Unconjecturable it is stated:
"There are these
four unconjecturables that are not to be conjectured about, that
would bring madness & vexation to anyone who conjectured about
them. Which four?
"The Buddha-range
of the Buddhas[1]
is an unconjecturable that is
not to be conjectured about, that would bring madness &
vexation to anyone who conjectured about it.
"The jhana-range
of a person in jhana...[2]
"The [precise working out of the] results
of kamma...
"Conjecture about
[the origin, etc., of] the world is an unconjecturable that is not
to be conjectured about, that would bring madness & vexation to
anyone who conjectured about it.

Notes
1.
I.e., the range of powers a Buddha develops as a result of becoming
a Buddha.
2.
I.e., the range of powers that one may obtain while absorbed in
jhana.
What we need to know is that,
there are karmic effects from our actions, speech and thoughts. It
is best to just leave it at that and not speculate further on the
eventual results in this case as it can be a never ending
speculation without any clear proof of the eventual consequence of
their actions.
