Last Saturday's incredible tale was about a young girl who was drowned in the sea and became a lost spirit. Lost spirits need merits to be reincarnated in better realms. If I remember correctly, the miniumum life span of ghost is 200 years. By dedicating merits to them, it will shorten their stay in the lower realm (ghosts, hell, animals) and reincarnated in the upper realm (gods, humans, demi-gods) or better still if they can be reborn in Pureland.

I could not agree more. Nowadays, due to lack of time & energy, parents are less and less able to really bring up children. I feel that this is an important issue to address. Children nowadays due to lack of love, care and wisdom from parents are degenerating in their behaviour and picking up things from the media and peer influence instead. It is not an easy job but parents have to pay greater attention to this and realise how huge a responsibility lies in their hands.

i'm not able to watch the video, but few month ago i was already inform of this "forgotten baby syndrome" in this modern hectic lifestyles that we are having.

according to MCK, rather to blame or say the children are not taught well, might as well say the parent and grand parent are also not taught well. some where along the line the moral education had degenerated.

i think instead we say blame the parents, rather say they are condition by the entire economically based society. some where along the line of this entire greed-based system, something is not right.

Numerous studies have shown that our stressful, busy lifestyles are causing more forgetfulness.

Many parents might had got over their child's death but little did they know that their child's spirit is suffering in the lower realm. The ritual in the video clip was Taoist ritual. It's quite heart breaking to see the little girl's spirit went back to the deep sea. It will be good if it's Buddhist ritual, at least the little girl can be reincarnated in a better realm.

Parents should spend more time with their children and ensure that they are not the lost ones in the society.
