About Two-Armed Youth Red
Chenrezig
The Red Chenrezig (Avalokitesvara in
Sanskrit), Guan Yin (in Mandarin), Chenrezig or Gyalwa Gyatso (in
Tibetan) is the embodiment of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the
three times and ten direction carrying out compassion enlightened
activities. The Two-Armed Youth Red Chenrezig diety is the
emanation of the wisdom mind of Padmasambhava, on a standing
posture as a 8 years old youth teenage, red in body color. His
youthful emanation on a standing posture signifies his commitment
and readiness to act on eliminating the sufferings of all the
sentient beings in the six realms. The Two-Armed
Youth Red Chenrezig is the most profound heart essence of
Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) realization practice. It was said to
have been hidden by Padmasambhava in caves and was sealed with his
sacred aspiration to be revealed at certain times for the benefit
of future generations by a tertön, a treasure revealer. This hidden
treasure teachings, terma was revealed by renowned
nineteenth-century Chokgyur Lingpa (1829-1870). He was a great
incarnated tertöns or treasure revealer, an emanation of the great
Indian master Padmasambhava. (Guru Rinpoche).
Through prayers to and meditation on
Chenrezig can purify many aeons of negative karma, eradicate
sufferings and obstacles and firmly seal off all possibilities of
taking rebirth in the six realms. The Red Chenrezig empowerment is
a very high empowerment of these Chenrezig practice and highly
regards and used by Vajrayana practitioner. Those who recite this
mani mantra regularly as one’s primary practice will perfect the
six bodhisattva paramitas, purifying one’s wisdom aggregate and
attain the qualities of the Buddha’s body, speech and
mind. In this life, one is able to remove
obstacles, has success in life, harmony in family, be healthy and
prosperous and have all wishes fulfilled. In the next life, it is
certain that one will be able to take rebirth in the pure land. It
is said that if one who has hears, wears, touches, sees or recite
this mani mantra, innumerable Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Gods,
Dragons and beings of the eight classification will congregate
where one dwells and there will be endless dharma-doors of
Samadhi.
About "Sang", Smoke
Offering
The objective of Smoke Offering is to make
offering to the Triple Gems, Three Roots, yidams, dakinis, dharma
protectors, Buddhas in the ten directions, other guests, the
Dzambuling lords of the land, the six kinds of beings, and those to
whom we owe a karmic debt, those who steal life and life force and
those who send obstacles, illness, bad omens, masters of malevolent
magical projections. The main benefits of Smoke Offering is to
repay our karmic debts as well as to purify the accumulated
negativities and obscurations in the six realms of
existence
Traditionally, the "Sang" smoke puja is
performed to mark important events such as New Year Day; one's
birthday; etc. It's also performed as an offering of perfect
fragrance which has been purified of its ordinary qualities and
appearance, to the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Meditation Deities,
Dharma Protectors and local worldly gods; as a request to remove
obstacles, ensure success to all our activities and to heal
diseases.
Some of the many benefits of performing the
"Sang" smoke puja are:
» Resolution of problems with all grieving
relatives and creditors from past
generations.
» Elimination of obstacles; business will
become smooth.
» Pacification of
disasters.
» Healing effect for long time sickness,
karma-hindrance sickness and unclear
sickness
The ritual involves reciting prayers and
making a large smoke offering by burning food (oatmeal, beans,
biscuits, candies, sugar), drinks (juice, milk), pieces of colorful
cloths, flowers and incense. The smoke or its essence is being
offered to four groups of beings: Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and all
the other deities; the dharma protectors; all sentient beings; the
nagas and spirits to whom we may owe a karmic
debt.

The 1st Zuri Rinpoche was the root
lama of Chöying Dorje, the 10th Karmapa. The 1st Zuri Rinpoche was
originally based in Tsurphu Monastery of the Tibet . Located near
Lhasa , it has been the main seat of the Karma Kagyu Lineage and
residence of the successive incarnations of the Gyalwang Karmapas.
The 1st Zuri Rinpoche later went to Qinghai in his lifetime.
Following the Karmapa's wishes and due to karmic connections, he
settled there and stayed in Thrangu Monastery until his seventh
incarnation.
In each of his past lives, Zuri
Rinpoche was renowned for his practice of Vajrakilaya. The 7th Zuri
Rinpoche, for example, had attained enlightenment by reciting the
Vajrakilaya mantra 1,300 million times in his small retreat hut
overhanging the cliff of the Princess WenCheng Temple in Qinghai .
This is still recounted by his then disciples and the elderly monks
there by this day. The 7th Zuri Rinpoche passed away in Bhutan ,
thus created the origination of his next incarnation in this
Himalayan kingdom.
The present Venerable 8th
Zuri Rinpoche was born in Bhutan and was recognized by H.H. 16th
Karmapa at two months old as a reincarnation of Bakula Arhat - one
of the Sixteen Arhats (direct disciples of Shakyamuni Buddha who
had tremendous spiritual realizations). At two, H.E. presided over
his enthronement ceremony in Bhutan in the presence of the
Karmapa's four heart sons and many renowned Rinpoches. He was
bestowed the Dharma name Karma Migyur Tenpel Gyalshen Jigme
Gocha.
At a young age, Rinpoche entered
Rumtek Monastery, the Karmapa's seat in Sikkim , India , to receive
intensive traditional Buddhist education. He studied at the Karma
Shri Nalanda Institute and performed brilliantly under the guidance
of the Karmapa. He then proceeded to Nepal to further his studies
in learning the three yanas, the five major treatises and the four
tantras in the Namo Buddha Institute. Also, he studied extensively
in India and Bhutan .
He had also received empowerments
and teachings of various lineages such as from the Kagyu masters
the Very Venerable 9th Thrangu Rinpoche, the 1st Kalu Rinpoche, and
the Nyingma master Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche and among others. Rinpoche
started the spreading of dharma in 1993. He traveled to and from
Bhutan , India , Nepal , mainland China , Hong Kong , Taiwan and
Singapore , in setting up Buddhist centers, giving teachings,
conducting pujas, holding retreats and animal protection
activities.
The present 8th Zuri Rinpoche is a
qualified lineage teacher and a great reincarnated master and is
highly commended by H.H. the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje. The
8th Zuri Rinpoche has carried on the powerful tradition of
Vajrakilaya practice and Tsog offerings unceasingly for the benefit
of sentient beings.
