I just found out last week that last time my mom prayed to a
deity (she was not Buddhist yet) for a son... The deity told her to
chant Amitabha Sutra for 12 days which she did... after which she
conceived a son (and received signs in dreams). As per instruction,
she brought the baby to the deity and three times the deity refused
to have the baby as his god-son... the attendant informed my mom
only Guan Yin would have me as god-son... and the first divination
confirmed the answer..
That baby is me.. haha.. I think though... if everyone can hear
the universal sound (guan shi yin) then everyone is the god-sons
and daughters of Guan Yin.
(I didn't know that I was a 'god son' of Guan Yin, but
throughout my life I have felt a strong connection with this
Bodhisattva and I have experienced many things occurred
miraculously by virtue of this Bodhisattva)
p.s. the deity turns out to be a Song dynasty venerable who
attained enlightenment...
