Just google PA , they will tell you which community centre
is having a course now. One regular one is at Clementi CC.
If you are willing to pay for a one-to-one coaching, there are
two ladies who have grade 10 in guzheng and they charge $35-40 per
hour. I have to get the numbers.
There are one guzheng shop in bras basah, one in chinatown
point. The one in bras basah recently told me the guzheng out
of stock, new batch arriving. On the 2nd floor, facing a 2nd hand
bookshop. Simple guzheng costs $500 to over $1000 (for mother
of pearl carving). Alternatively, you can buy a guzheng or a
2nd hand one through your course teacher.
Your right hand will be wearing artificial nails, so won't hurt,
your left hand need to press the strings, will take some time to
get use to it. Just practise shorter time till your left hand
fingers are used to the pressing.
Guzheng is an easy instrument to pick up to play simple songs.
But must have the patience to practise because it is a lot of
plucking on the strings. Later skills and techniques come in to
play more ancient pieces and that is more challenging.
I notice many men like to learn guzheng. It's an
instrument that appeal to guys. ^^
Anyway, this is my nth instrument that i learnt. So it may be
easier for me as i have strong musical background.
