On the other hand, I am glad there is justice. Those guys shouting gang slogans and laughing when they done their deeds, are most likely at home whimpering and hiding now since they will be facing the death sentence. I am quite certain they will be crying when standing before the judge and going through the sentence. And even more than this, I think they will betray each other just to save their own lives when being interogated. And that’s how the others will be caught sooner or later, because their “gang friends” rat them out. Let’s see if they will laugh in court when the death sentence is meted out to them.

I pity Darren's parents. To raise a child is not an easy task. Raise him till 19 years old and being hacked to death by some crazy guys just because of staring. I wonder how they can take it.

Hope that the punishments to those gangsters are harsh enough to warn others. The punishments should be broadcast in schools, polytechnics etc. to let youngsters aware of the consequence they will face if get into gang fight and murder. This should be an on-going process, youngsters need to be reminded again and again to get into their head.

I have a feeling that the victim is not 100% innocent. But fact is, 1 person died, 10 person have to face paying with their lives. I am very much against the death penalty but when it comes to gangs, I think it’s worth debating. But for death penalty when dealing in drugs and such, I think it’s NOT appropriate. We don’t know for sure (because some years down the road science may come out new frontiers, eg. heroine can cure certain cancers) if certain drugs have healing properties. I mean even the recent research shows alcohol is more harmful than illegal drugs, so would that mean death sentence for smuggling alcohol? Just my opinion.

Aiyah, it was mentioned in papers that tis Darren guy's friend got records before. So can say that Darren "ciap" gangsters too.

So the staring incident basically is to see who big. In the end he got killed while his friend ran away!

This might have gone differently if DownTown East had not celebrated Halloween which resulted in people thinking it was an act. When you celebrate a spiritual festival associated with death and the dead, what do you expect?
