When we let go of "I', of tribalism and see sentient beings as
they are; fellow sufferers.
As long as cling to "I" and identify I, Ourselves to
Others, sure intolerance will ensue.
As long as we see it as a struggle between Us(be it religion ,
race or creed or class etc.) and Them, Other, a rift exist.
Too often, moi included, are guilty of tribalism, as we attach
identity label on ourselves(I am a Singaporean, Buddhist,
Christian, Muslim, Taoist, etc.) and then; others.
It is useful if we wish to preserve our society ,our values and
way of life, if we are engaged in some sort an inevitable violent
struggle to have such an identity, but why let it get to that stage
in the first place?!
Sometimes it all seem so natural that we are not even aware of
it, as we fail to see the individual in the person, and lump them
together with others in the same label as others: evil, radical,
fundamentalist.
