Is your dharma teacher the one who is enlightened? it
would be good to meet her and make some offerings...
I have a number of dharma teachers. That is why I often refer
different terms to my teachers:
My Master (Ven Shen Kai, currently passed on but we focus on his
teachings he left behind. I took refuge under him when I was 2
years old)
My Taiwanese teacher (Missionary Chen Ming An, appointed
successor to transmit certain important dharmas)
My local dharma teacher (Li Zhu Lao Shi, an appointed lay
missionary [传教士]/dharma teacher in Singapore by my Master)
The only teacher I am in contact with is my local teacher li zhu
lao shi: I never talked with my Master cos he passed away when I
was 6 years old, and I have not had the opportunity to meet up with
my Taiwanese teacher yet but Thusness suggested I should travel to
Taiwan to meet him someday which I think is a great idea. Our
dharma center plays a dharma talk by our Taiwanese teacher on vcd
every month.
Because my Taiwanese teacher's practice and realization has
reached certain degree, he was the sole successor [even though he
is a lay person] to my Master in transmitting some important
dharmas... he is known to have attained certain bhumi. As for my
local dharma teacher, she has some level of realization, but not
yet entering the bhumi. Hope this answers your question.
