Pigrimage with Geshe Jamyang to Buddhist sites in India and
attend teachings with His Holiness the 17th Karmapa at Kagyu Monlam

The Buddhist pilgrimage, from December 1st - 21st will take
in Rajgir, Sharvasti, Lumbini, Kushinagar, Vashali, and
includes attending teachings with His Holiness the 17th Karmapa at
Kagyu Monlam in Bodhgaya and with Geshe Jamyang along the way
and at Root Institute.

1 December 10– Day 01: Arrive Delhi
Transfer from International Airport to hotel in Delhi.

2 December 10– Day 02: Full day of sightseeing
New Delhi – India Gate, Rajpath and Secretariat Buildings,
Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum. Old Delhi – Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort
& spice market.

3 December 10– Day 03: Agra Leh
Take early morning train/taxi to Agra. Check into hotel.
Afternoon visit Taj Mahal and Red Fort and Baby Taj.

4 Dec 10 – Day 04: Agra – Varanasi
Early morning visit to Taj Mahal, catch train at 06:45 to
Varanasi. Arrive approx 5pm in Varanasi.

5 Dec 10 – Day 05: Varanasi
Sunrise boat ride on the Ganges Sightseeing trip in Main Ghat
area and Vishwanath Temple. Evening puja on the Ganges.

6 Dec 10 – Day 06:. Sarnath - Sharvasti
In the morning visit Sarnath – Dhamekh Stupa and Buddhist ruins,
Chaukhandi Stupa, Mulganda Kuti Vihar and drive to Shravasti.

7 Dec 10 – Day 07: Sharvasti - Lumbini
Shravasti is an important pilgrimage location as he spent 26
monsoons and this where gave most of his teachings. Afternoon drive
to Lumbini.

8 Dec 10 – Day 8: Morning Sightseeing around
Lumbini
Visit the Sacred Garden (the birthplace of Buddha) the Peace
Stupa, the Japanese, Thai and Myanmar Temple, Overnight

9 Dec 10 – Day 9: Kushinagar
After breakfast drive to Kushinagar. Kushinagar is an important
pilgrimage location as that is where Buddha passed away. Visit the
ruins of the Makutbandhan Stupa and the statue of the reclining
Buddha.

10 Dec 10 – Day 10 Patna. Drive to Vashali
Visit the place where the Buddha gave his last sermon before he
reached perinirvana. Drive to Patna.

11 Dec 10 – Day 11: Depart for Rajgir
Leave early morning to visit Rajgir where we take the
chairlift to visit Vultures Peak, Nalanda University, and the
Japanese Stupa, Vultures Peak & Nalanda University, return to
Bodhgaya.

12 Dec 10 – Day 12: Day in Bodhgaya
Visit the Mahabodhi Temple, Japanese, Thai and Myanmar Temples
and at sunset watch Buddhist monks chanting.

Start of Kagyu Monlam, Tergar Monastery, Bodhgaya.
