Queries of a Diploma Holder - to - be

Hello,

First of all, i couldn't find a appropiate sub forum for my enqueries, but i guess it won't be off topic to post it here.

I'm a 18 turning 19 year old, Year 3 student, pursuing a Diploma in Hospitality &Tourism Management at Temasek Polytechnic.

I'm concern over the avaliability of slots in university as my GPA is around 3.1. With two sems left, the opportunity of increasing it to at least a 3.5 gets harder.

So I'm wondering of any of the more experienced adults and fellow forum mates are able to give suggestions on the path that i should take after graduating and NS.

I do not have much money for overseas universitiy and have doubts about a Private University.

You are right. One concern is your gpa. The other is the relevance of the course you are in. I will not go into the multiple spelling errors made in your post above.

if u really dont want private uni then er, work hard and try to raise ur gpa as much as possible?

or after ns work for a few years save enough and go overseas lo.

but whats wrong with private uni?!

I'm not biased against private uni, just that i don't really have much confidence in entering one as well as the degree too.

Even with 3.5 GPA you may not get into local universities. You need to be aiming at 3.7 and above.

If you consider private university and study in foreign universities, then you essentially lock yourself out of all options.

Private university degrees are not recognised in public service in Singapore. So if you consider that route, you should consider mainly taking degrees that will give you an edge in the private sector.

Singapore have alot of private degree courses available for hospitality

go with the one which is recognised by more bodies

for example like Singapore Hotel Association one

As for the school fee, ask your parent to take a loan with the bank or with a cooperative

I used to take study loan from telecom credit cooperative , interest rates is lower than a bank .

Even if your parents or your relative unable to help you take a loan due to personal reaon or Credit history ,fret not

Work part-time as a private tuition teacher or work in a hotel which allows you to take private studies .

some hotel allows .
